Greece Geography
Greece was a peninsula, it had three sides of water surrounding the long stretch of land. It is a mountainous land almost completely surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. Since there were many mountains, they provided a source of fresh water. Also, the mountains made it tougher to reach other city-states, so the Greeks became great sailors. The Greeks also had more than 1,400 islands in the Mediterranean Sea. Many smaller peninsulas stuck out from the Greek main land creating natural coastline and many natural harbors. The Greek winters were mild but the summers were long and dry.
